Art Print vs Art Card

I’ve had people ask me the difference between my art prints and cards, and why the prints are so much more expensive.

Cards are printed on regular cardstock using toner, in three colours plus black. This results in a limited colour gamut, which is less vibrant and colour accurate than my art prints. The cards have a slightly glossy finish, which makes them less suitable for framing. Also, items printed with toner will fade over time. The images on the cards appear flatter; the art print images have more depth and detail.

My art prints are printed on fine art papers using an inkjet printer with 12 colours of pigment ink (giclée). The fine art papers are acid and lignin free, and coated to absorb the ink, resulting in a rich image with more depth and detail, and truer to colour. The combination of the fine art paper and stable pigment ink results in a lovely image which will have archival longevity.

All of my art prints are done on Hahnemühle bamboo or 100% cotton rag papers.
